Our Story

For over 42 years, Mason-Dixon Community Services, Inc. (MDCS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit human services agency, has been a cornerstone of support for low-income residents in southeastern York County. Guided by our mission to provide high-quality human services, we deliver more than 14,764 emergency services to over 4,250 individuals annually, serving as a vital safety net for those experiencing poverty, hunger, and homelessness.

Our agency offers both immediate emergency services and programs designed to break the cycle of poverty. These services fall under four key areas:

          1. Homelessness Prevention Services – Including a food pantry, eviction prevention, and emergency energy and financial assistance.
          2. Case Management – Offering job-seeking support, access to a computer lab, information and referrals, and application assistance.
          3. Youth Programs – Featuring initiatives like the summer backpack nutrition program and a school supplies program.
          4. Holiday Programs – Providing holiday "baskets" for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, a toy giveaway, the winter warmth project, an adopt-a-family program, and a community resource fair.

At MDCS, we respond to the urgent and evolving needs of our community. Residents face challenges like soaring food and energy costs, limited affordable housing, and difficulties meeting basic needs. We are dedicated to walking this journey with them, offering assistance and guidance to help overcome obstacles and build a brighter future.
